Undiagnosed pulmonary sequestration causing systemic circulation hypoperfusion during ventricular septal defect repair in an infant

2019
Summary PS can be easily neglected and misdiagnosed due to its non-specific clinical manifestation. Here, we present a case with undiagnosed PS identified after a VSD repair operation in an infant. Unexplained large blood flow to the left atrium occurred during CPB, causing life-threatening systemic hypoperfusion. The aim of this case report is to highlight the vigilance for undiagnosed PS accompanied with congenital heart disease, which may produce an anaesthetic disaster during open-heart surgery.
