Effect of precursor on morphology of lead sulfide nanoparticles

2015
The PbS nanoparticles (PbS1 and PbS2) have been prepared by a facile solvothermal method, using bis(N-benzyl-N-furfuryldithiocarbamato-S,S′)lead(II) (1) and bis(N,N-difurfuryldithiocarbamato-S,S′)lead(II) (2), respectively. Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV–Vis, and fluorescence spectroscopy have been used to characterize the as-prepared lead sulfide nanoparticles. The PXRD measurements suggest that PbS nanoparticles are single phase with face-centered-cubic structure. UV–Vis absorption spectra of PbS1 and PbS2 exhibit a blue shift with respect to that of the bulk sample, which is attributed to the quantum size effects.
