Clinical efficacy modified Yu-ping-xiao-feng decoction in the treatment of chronic urticaria

2012
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of modified Yu-ping-xiao-feng decoction in the treatment of chronic urticaria(CU).Methods Eighty-two patients were randomly divided into the study group and the control group.Patients in the study group(n=42) had oral administration of modified Yu-ping-xiao-feng decoction, while whose in the control group(n=40) were treated by loratadin 10 mg/d,with 30 days as a course of treatment in both groups. The clinical efficacy and adverse effects were observed in the two groups after one month of treatment, and the recurrence was investigated within the follow-up of 2 months. Results The total effective rate after 1 month of treatment was 85.71% in the study group and 82.50% in the control group, with no statistically significant difference(P0.05).During the follow-up,8 of the 26 cured patients in the study group and 16 of the 27 cured patients in the control group suffered recurrence, with statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was 9.52% in the study group and 12.5% in the control group, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion Modified Yu-ping-xiao-feng decoction is an effective prescription to CU.It has similar short-term efficacy and safety with loratadine tablets, but superior to loratadine tablets in the effect of preventing the recurrence of CU.
