1-MW Pulsed Spallation Neutron Source (JSNS) at J-PARC

The most important object of the Materials and Life science experimental Facility (MLF) is to provide high intense and quality neutrons to users. For this purpose, the 1-MW pulsed spallation neutron source, the Japan Spallation Neutron Source (JSNS), at MLF has several unique features, i.e. a cross-flow type mercury target to accept MW-class high power proton beam, three-type moderators for sharp and/or high intense neutron pulses, and cryogenic hydrogen circulation system with an ortho/para hydrogen converter.
