The prognostic value of serum cysteine-rich protein 61 in elderly acute heart failure patients

2019
Objective To investigate the prognostic value of serum cysteine-rich protein 61 (CYR61) in elderly acute heart failure (AHF) patients. Methods 128 consecutive patients hospitalized with AHF aged over 70 years in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University from June 2014 to September 2017 were included. The serum CYR61 levels at admission were measured and the correlation between CYR61 levels and ages was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. The patients were followed up for 3 months and the primary outcome was defined as all-cause mortality. The predictive value of CYR61 level for the outcome was analyzed by logistic regression analysis. Results 118 patients finished follow-up, of which 37 died, so the all-cause mortality was 31.4%. Pearson correlation analysis showed that CYR61 level was not associated with age. CYR61 was an independent predictor of 3-month all-cause mortality in multivariate logistic regression analysis [odds ratio (OR) 64.58, 95% confidence interval (CI) 3.99-1 045.11, P<0.01]. Conclusion Serum CYR61 was a good predictor for predicting the short-term prognosis in elderly patients with AHF. Key words: Cysteine-rich protein 61; Aged; Heart failure; Prognosis
