Health needs of adolescent girls in reproductive behaviour (authors transl)

1979
64.1% of the users of the Counseling Unit for the Young are unmarried girls ages 17-24 and are predominantly students and secondary pupils. Since these adolescents are most often nulliparae their underlying health problems are significant. Pregnancy is undesirable in both the younger girls and the older ones. The girls are considered pregnant before coming to the Counseling Unit; 83.0% of them begin using contraceptives afterwards. The health service for adolescents must attempt 2 tasks: 1) to attract adolescent girls to the Unit before experiencing pregnancy in a negative sense and 2) to observe and analyze the efficacy and side effects of contraceptives.
