A rapid flame atomic absorption spectroscopic procedure for determination of lead in aluminium base alloys

2004
A rapid a nd sensitive technique to determine lead in trace level present in a luminium based a ll oys by tlame atomi c absorption spectroscopic techniquc (AAS) is described. It is free fr o m aluminium and silicon spectral interfe re nces. The method is free from associated alloying e le me nts. Lead was determined at 283.3 nm using air- acetylene fl a me . The value of rel ati ve standa rd deviation (r.s.d.) of lead, in case of hi g h sili con containing samples is found to be 2.545% and that for low ones 10-12% respectively. The standard deviati on values were +1- 0.0014 and +1-0.0016 respectivel y. A threshold limit o f concentration of aluminium and sili con for th e dete rmination o f lead in fin a l analyte solution has been described and thi s has been corre lated with the sample weight to be ta ke n for analysis.
