Strategies to Minimize Risk of Acute Kidney Injury During Complex Endovascular Aortic Repair

2017
Acute kidney injury can occur after endovascular interventions and is one of the most important determinants of early and late morbidity and mortality. Potential causes are multifactorial and include underlying chronic kidney disease, aortic debris, embolization, renal ischemia, nephrotoxicity, and catheter-related complications. This chapter focuses on strategies to minimize kidney injury throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative period in patients undergoing endovascular interventions.
