Application of iodoform gauze in the recovery after cervical conization

Objective To explore the effect of the iodoform gauze in the recovery after cervical conization.Methods Sixty-two patients from Weifang people’s hospital undergone the cervical conization procedure,and 34 patients of them were treated with the iodoform gauze after the operation.The cutting edges were sterilized with a povidone-iodine cotton ball once a week for 3 weeks.The vaginal bleeding,crust thickness and drain were evaluated at the 1st week,and the recovery status and mucosal hyperplasia were evaluated at the 3rd week.Results Compared with the patients treated without the iodoform gauze,the patients treated with the iodoform gauze had less vaginal bleeding and drain,and thicker crusts.The recovery time was shorter and there was less mucosal hyperplasia.In addition to mucosal hyper plasia,two groups of patients with postoperative recovery for 3 weeks and 1 weeks after operation there were signifi cant differences(P 0.05).Conclusion The iodoform gauze usage is safe and effective and safe for the recovery of cer vical conization.
