Title: Intrapleural lipoma mimicking a lung cancer

2014
Lipomas are benign tumours made up of adipose tissue. While they are the commonest benign tumour seen in adults, intrathoracic lipomas are very rare, with pleural lipomas being even rarer. The importance of both intrathoracic and intrapleural lipomas is that they may mimic a lung neoplasm radiologically and lead to unnecessary potentially invasive investigations and patient anxiety so it is important for clinicians to be aware of these entities. We present the case of a 62 year old gentleman who was diagnosed with an intrapleural lipoma.
