Investigation of Helix-Groove Rectangular Waveguide Slow Wave Structure for Sheet-Beam Traveling Wave Tube

A novel helix-groove rectangular waveguide (HGRW) slow wave structure (SWS) using in the sheet-beam traveling wave tube (TWT) operating at THz band has been presented in this paper. Dispersion, interaction impedance and the E-field distribution of the HGRW-SWS are calculated and analyzed using HFSS software. It has been obtained that the proposed SWS not only has the characteristics of high interaction impedance of coupled cavity SWS, but also has wider bandwidth and lower phase velocity than ones of the coupled cavity SWS, meanwhile it is easy to fabricate.
