Retroflexio uteri gravidi

2003
A 29-year-old patient came to the hospital because of preterm labour and ureterectasis during her 33rd week of gestation. Vaginal finding was very unusual: the cervix was displaced above the pubis and could not vaginally be reached. Increasing pressure led to caesarean section at the 36th week of gestation. The uterus was found to be extremely retroflexed; it had been opened at the back side, after completely cutting the vagina! Normal anatomy was restored. The postoperative course was uneventful. A comparable case could not be found in recent literature.
