Tanino de Tara (Caesalpinia spinosa) como precursor de un inhibidor de corrosión para acero SAE 1010

2018
Tara (Caesalpinia spinosa) tannin has been studied as an alternative for the effective anticorrosive protection of steel, in order to replace the traditional pigments containing hexavalent chromium. In this work, temporary protective primers containing Tara tannin and lanthanum “tannate” as anticorrosivepigments were applied over SAE 1010 steel specimens. The anticorrosion behavior of the wash-primers was assessed by incorporating them in a complete painting scheme. The electrochemical characterization of these schemes was carried out by: conductivity measurements, linear polarization tests and measurements of the corrosion potential.Corrosion products grown on the working electrodes used in the electrochemical tests were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Results showed that the incorporation of Tara tannin and lanthanum “tannate” primers to the complete painting scheme provides acceptable anticorrosive properties.
