Usualprescribing strategies ofhormone replacement therapy forpostmenopausal womenbyLosAngeles areagynecol- ogists, bothnowand10years ago,wereinvestigated byamail survey. Ofthe330gynecologists whoresponded, estrogen therapy is currently usedasaroutine bynearly all (95 percent), for womenboth withandwithout auterus. Overthree-fourths ofthese physicians favor useof0.625 mgofconjugated equine estrogen. Theestrogen is combined withcyclic progestin therapy, usually 10mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate, by86percentofgynecologists using estrogen forwomenwithauterus, andby47percentforwomen
