Facile synthesis of MnFe2O4 nanoparticles and investigation of various reductant and capping agents on their size and morphology

2017
In this paper MnFe2O4 nanoparticle was prepared by a hydrothermal method and characterized through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Alternating gradient force magnetometer (AGFM) indicated ferromagnetic behavior of MnFe2O4 nanoparticles. The reductant agent, capping agent and surfactant effects on the size and morphology of MnFe2O4 nanoparticles were investigated. Photocatalytic properties of MnFe2O4 nanoparticle (band gap 1.35 eV) was measured by using the degradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation (84 %). Also band gap of MnFe2O4 nanoparticles determined by UV–Vis spectrum (DRS).
