Observations on the Efficacy of Wax Therapy plus Moxibustion in Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain

Objective To investigate the efficacy of wax therapy plus moxibustion in treating rheumatoid arthritis pain. Method Eighty-six patients with rheumatoid arthritis were randomly allocated to a control group of 40 cases and a treatment group of 46 cases. The control group received routine treatment and nursing. The treatment group received wax therapy and moxibustion in addition to routine treatment and nursing. The analgesic effects were evaluated after one, three, seven, ten and fourteen days of treatment. Result There were statistically significant differences in the pain score after one, three, seven, ten and fourteen days of treatment between the treatment and control groups(P0.01). Conclusion Wax therapy plus moxibustion is superior to routine treatment and nursing in reducing pain severity in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
