Effects of solid particles on adhesion performance of tread on wet road

2012
Based on the hydrodynamic lubrication theory and taking the effects of hydrodynamic action and squeezing action between the smooth tread and the rough road and the volume concentration of the solid particles in rain water into account,an average flow model is developed to simulate the viscous hydroplaning of tire/road.This model can be used to analyze the effects of solid particles, loads, initial thickness and tire velocities on wet adhesion performance of tire with numerical solutions. The results show that the wet adhesion performance of tire is greatly affected by the factors of loads, initial thickness and tire velocities, and the performance can be improved by reducing the volume concentration of the solid particles. This study is valuable for the improvement of the viscous hydroplaning theory of tire.
