Regulatory T Cells and TH17 Effector Cells in Peri-silicone Capsular Fibrosis
2011
Excessive scar formation, or fibrosis in a broader sense, is a major often neglected health problem for which neither appropriate non-invasive diagnostic nor therapeutic tools are available. Fibrosis not only entails a deterioration of organ function, e.g. in the case of liver cirrhosis or pulmonary fibrosis, but also is a major cause for the development of pain as well as aesthetic dysfiguration.
