Development of Waveguide Loads for High-Power SHF Devices Based on Composite Materials

2018
Researches in the field of development of new waveguide super-high-frequency (SHF) loads based on composite materials for SHF devices and accelerator facilities have been carried out at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics in partnership with the Bolid company (Novosibirsk). Absorbing properties of the composite material, which cover the walls of the rectangular waveguide, are measured. Based on the data, the waveguide load prototype has been developed and tested with klystron and peak SHF power up to 25 MW. In this paper, the device is described and the results of measurements with low SHF power and benchmark tests of the load prototype and S-band klystron are presented.
