Survey of nurses staffing in military hospitals

Objective To investigate the status of nurses staffing in military hospitals.Methods All of the military hospitals were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire about nurses staffing,employed nurses management,nursing specialists training,administers construction,problems in nurses staffing and so on.All questionnaires were collected by mail.Results The ratio of bed to nurse in some hospitals was unreasonable.The average ratio of bed to nurse was 10.45,and the ratio in ICU was 11.44.The ratio of doctor to nurse was 10.81.Employed nurses had become the main force of nurses,accounting for 72.63% of the total number.Nursing specialist training had begun to be implepented.A total of 2 221 nurses had received specialist training,accounting for 3.90%.The main problems were lack of clinical nurses,lower quality of nurses,and lowering of nursing quality.Conclusion Nursing human resources are still of shortage and nurses staffing is not rational partly.The employed nurses have become important parts of military nurses.It is necessary to strengthen nursing management and nurses training,thereby to promote the development of nursing in militarty hospitals.
