Colposuspension for genuine stress incontinence, 1973-1985

1987
Summary A personal series of 278 colposuspensions performed between 1973 and 1985 has been reviewed. An overall success rate at one year cannot be given due to a low follow up rate, but of the patients seen at one year, 86 per cent were asymptomatic and had no clinical evidence of stress incontinence. These results are similar to those found in other studies. A questionnaire follow up of 44 patients operated on between 1974 and 1976 was carried out. The response was poor, with only 19 patients completing the questionnaire. Of these 19 patients, I5 were either asymptomatic or ‘almost always’ dry and satisfied with the result.
