ALA-PDT for one case of severe acne and its comprehensive nursing experience

Objective To report one case of severe acne treated by ALA-PDT and its comprehensive nursing experience. Methods ALA-PDT was performed 4 times, once a week; and the comprehensive nursing intervention was taken before and after the treatment. Results After 4 times of photodynamic therapy, the patient’s papules, pustules, and cysts were significantly reduced, and no recurrence occurred during the 2 year-follow-up. The patient was satisfied with the treatment effect. Conclusion 5% ALA- PDT can effectively treat severe acne. It is a simple and efficient method for treating moderate to severe acne. Comprehensive nursing intervention can effectively relieve tension and improve compliance in the treatment process. Key words: Acne; Photodynamic; Therapy; Comprehensive nursing intervention
