Tibial Shaft Fractures

2014
Tibial shaft fractures are common injuries, but they can be challenging to treat. There are different well-established treatment methods for their management, each one with specific indications, advantages, limitations and complications. Non-operative treatment remains a viable option for some cases. Operative treatment comprises various fixation methods, including IM nailing, plating or external fixation. The condition of the soft-tissue envelope is of great importance as it can influence the time to surgery, the method of fixation and the final outcome.
