A Study on the Occurrence of Streptococcus spp. as a Causative Agent of Respiratory Distress in Children

2014
Presence of the bacteria in the blood and lower respiratory track indicated that the bacteria has entered in sterile site of the body suspecting to be the condition of invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD). This level of infection is most deadly form of the disease and result in high mortality (Brien et al., 2009). Health problems showing high incidence of infectious diseases such as pneumococcal infections among the children is a burden. Defining the prevelance of the disease leads to an effective prevention and/or treatment and the probable decrease in the mortality and morbidity of the disease and would also help us to evaluate the new prevention strategies.
