Effect of emergency eschar skin grafting combined with VSD on burn of extremities

2018
Objective To investigate the effects of emergency eschar skin grafting combined with vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) on burn of extremities. Methods Sixty-two patients with extremities burn were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to the random number table method, with 31 cases in each group. The control group was treated by emergency eschar skin grafting combined with conventional closed wound therapy of dressing compression bandaging. The observation group was treated by emergency eschar skin grafting combined with VSD. The wound healing, pain degree and quality of life of the two groups before and after treatment were recorded, and complications (wound infection, skin displacement, and hematocele and effusion on the surface of wound) were recorded. Results The wound healing rate of observation group was higher than that of control group, and wound healing time, dressing change frequency were lower than those of control group, the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05); at 3, 7 d after treatment, visual analogue scale scores of observation group were lower than those of control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); 1 months after treatment, the scores of physiological function, role emotional, mental health and social function in observation group were higher than those in control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of complication of observation group [6.45% (2/31)] was lower than that of control group [29.03% (9/31)], the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Emergency eschar skin grafting combined with VSD can accelerate wound healing, reduce pain degree and incidence of complications, and improve quality of life.
