Application Evaluation of Low Dose Multi-sliced Scanning on Neonatal Adrenal Hemorrhage

2013
Objective To investigate the application of low dose multi-sliced CT(MSCT) scanning on neonatal adrenal hemorrhage(NAH). Methods A total of 32 cases diagnosed as NAH in Guangdong Maternal and Children Hospital were recruited from May 2009 to March 2013, including 3 cases of acute stage, 20 of subacute stage, 6 of chronic stage and 3 of organizing stage. SIEMENZ 128-sliced and TOSHIBA 64-sliced CT scanning were conducted on all the patients in low dose mode. The application value of MSCT on NAH was explored. This programme was approved by Guangdong Maternal and Children Hospital's human research committee, coincident the ethical standards, and consents were obtained by the guardians. Results MSCT image signs of NAH included low or mixed density mass in adrenal area, usually in right side, with thin involucrum or cyst wall, and no enhance in central site. Conclusions MSCT low-dose scanning provides clear images and is of valuable to diagnose and stage NAH. Key words: neonatal; adrenal hemorrhage; multi-sliced CT; low dose
