Percutaneous management of septic left anterior descending coronary occlusion following minimally invasive surgery for mitral valve infective endocarditis.

2021
Abstract Coronary artery embolization is an unusual complication following infective endocarditis (IE) surgery. A 43 year-old woman developed an anterior STEMI with acute left anterior descending artery occlusion during due to septic emboli during the immediate postoperative period following minimally invasive mitral valve repair for IE. It was successfully treated with thromboaspiration and balloon angioplasty. Coronary septic emboli should be part of the differential diagnosis in patients presenting with STEMI during the early post-operative period for IE.
