Management of Primary Penile Tumours: Partial and Total Penectomy

2021
Penile cancer (PCa) is a rare disease, and the most common histological subtype is squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The surgical management of PCa depends on the extent of invasion into deeper penile structures, and penile-preserving options are now the standard of care in specialist centres. Glansectomy can be offered to those with invasive disease confined to the glans penis. However, partial or total penectomy is recommended for disease involving the corpus cavernosum and urethra (stage T3). This chapter focuses mainly on the technical and oncological and functional outcomes of partial and total penectomy.
