: The authors emphasize systematic isolation of the recurrent nerve and of the parathyroids, to prevent complications in surgery of the thyroid. Moreover they try to underline the significance of the superior laryngeal nerve and the role of parafollicular cells (today unknown) for a rational and modern therapy of the non-neoplastic diseases of the thyroid.
