A visible-light activating unit with experimental light-conductors — photopolymerization in bis-GMA unfilled resins for dental application

1990
On irradiation, for a visible-light activating unit with an attached light-conductor, a peak in the wavelength range 460 to 500 nm was seen every time. A smaller area of plastic fibres occupying the light-conductor, which ranged from 75.0 to 80.1%, was found for five light-conductors, compared with the commercial one (90.1%). The curing efficiency of an unfilled resin containing dimethyl-para-toluidine was larger than that of an unfilled resin containing Michler’s ketone (DMAEMA). The VL curing unit made from the light-conductor with the largest area of plastic fibres had the largest curing efficiency at the largest irradiation time compared to the commercial light-conductor.
