Embolization for Hemoptysis

Abstract Hemoptysis can be controlled effectively with embolization of arteries supplying pathologic pulmonary parenchyma. In most cases systemic arteries (bronchial and nonbronchial systemic collaterals) rather than pulmonary arteries are responsible for the hemoptysis. Although effective in controlling hemoptysis, embolization does not treat the underlying disease process.
