Ductal Carcinoma In Situ: Current Consensus in Management

With advancement in screening mammography and diagnostic breast imaging, the incidence of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) has increased. Approximately 25–50% of patients with DCIS progress to invasive disease if untreated. The management of DCIS includes multiple treatment options including surgery, radiation therapy, and hormone therapy, thus making clinical decisions for the management of DCIS challenging. In this chapter, we discuss various treatment options for the management of DCIS.
