Observation on effects of calcitonin for osteoarthritis.

Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of salmon calcitonin treatment for osteoarthritis.Methods:Forty female patients whose ages were 50-75 years old with osteoarthritis diagnosed by clinical study X-Ray examination had been treated with salmon calcitonin for 4 weeks.Pain remission time and recovery of function were compared statistically before and after salmon clalcitonin treatment.And after one year of follow-up visit,sum up its effectiveness.Results:One year's follow-up showed that total effective rate is over 80%.Twenty cases are excellent,seventy cases are good,and three cases are efficacy.Conclusion:Salmon calcitonin play a important part in relieve pain,control and prevent from knee vars and valglus malformation and promote clinical effectiveness.
