A review of Japanese standards for laboratory shear tests

Japanese standards for laboratory shear tests are introduced briefly with emphasis on pre-failure deformation characteristics. Summaries of the standards made by the WG1 of the Japanese domestic committee for TC29 are presented. Some of the features of these standards are compared with some others, such as the BS and ASTM standards.
