Clinical Value of Testing Fibrinogen and D-dimer in Patients With Pulmonary Embolism

2012
[Objective] To investigate the clinical value of testing fibrinogen and D-dimer in patients with pulmonary embolism.[Methods] Fibrinogen and D-dimer of 96 patients with pulmonary embolism were tested, and they were compared with those in the healthy control group.[Results] Level of fibrinogen and D-dimer in pulmonary embolism group and control group showed great differences(P 0.01).Sensitivity and specificity of fibrinogen detection alone were 68.8% and 35.4% respectively;those of D-dimer were 91.7% and 43.8% respectively, while sensitivity and specificity of combined testing were respectively 95.8% and 57.3%.[Conclusion] Combined testing of plasma fibrinogen and D-dimer is considered to be the preferred test for diagnosis of pulmonary embolism,so it could be applied in suspected cases.
