Sevrage physique des héroïnomanes en Médecine interne : déroulement et résultats immédiats

The aim of this study was to specify the conditions for admission of heroin drug addicts and the results of physical withdrawal (PW) in a department of internal medicine. 126 patients were admitted. The success rate of PW was 71% without any incident. To obtain these results, several conditions are required before hospitalisation : personal motivation from the addict, intensive collaboration between the hospital and extra hospital staffs and above all establishing a clear contract with the addict.
