Suspended-core fluoride fiber for broadband supercontinuum generation

2019
Abstract The suspended-core fluoride fiber was fabricated, for the first time to our knowledge, by rod-in-tube method associated with casting method. Visible dispersive wave (DW) was obtained and tunable Raman soliton pulses from 1680 nm to 1960 nm were generated in the suspended-core ZBLAN fiber pumped by a 1560 nm fs fiber laser. 0.685 W supercontinuum (SC) generation from 350 to 2400 nm is obtained with a launched pump power of 2.2 W and the SC is highly coherent according to the numerical calculations. The dispersion-engineered ZBLAN fibers are excellent hosts for ultraviolet to MIR nonlinear optics and SC generation.
