mechanism, CXCL8 increased the phosphorylation of Akt in a timedependent manner and PI3K inhibitor LY294002 could partially reverse CXCL8 effects. CONCLUSIONS: CXCL8 plays a critical role in PCSCs formation and maintenance via CXCR1/PI3K/Akt pathways. Abrogating CXCL8 pathway can diminish PCSCs population which might provide new insights for combination therapeutic of anti-CXCL8/CXCR1 with standard chemotherapy.
