Experimental and Numerical Analysis for the Stresses in Beam Column Joint of Gap graded Concrete in Supertall Reinforced Concrete Structures

1998
The stress distributions in the beam column joint of supertall reinforced concrete structures are investigated by using an epoxy model and with strain gage technique, where the gap graded concrete parts are simulated by different stuffing epoxies and the multi layer reinforcements are modeled by special alloy materials. By means of a FEM analysis and with a multi level substructuring technique, the stress distributions in the joint are also examined computationally to determine the stress concentration. The two results are compared, and some valuable informations for improving the design of the reinforced concrere beam column joint are obtained.
