Amphiphobic concrete with good oil stain resistance and anti-corrosion properties used in marine environment

2021
Abstract The hydrophobic surface provides a promising way for the protection of concrete in marine environment. However, the surface can be easily contaminated and lose hydrophobic properties due to the extremely low surface tension of oily contaminants. In this paper, the sandpaper polishing and mixed modifier composed of stearic acid and perfluorooctanoic acid were used to fabricate the amphiphobic (i.e. superhydrophobic and oleophobic) concrete. The different wettability effect of the concrete was investigated by changing the ratio of perfluorooctanoic acid in the mixed modifier. The results showed that the amphiphobic concrete exhibited good oil stain resistance and anti-corrosion properties. It is expected that the amphiphobic concrete may have important potential application in marine environment.
