Experimental investigations of SPT operation on alternative to Xenon gases - K r , N 2

2011
Two ergols has been tested for Hall effect thrusters for applications in space for station keeping of geostationary satellites or long journeys for space exploration. The goal is an analysis of possibilities of using other propellants instead of xenon. Two other propellants has been tested with two Hall effect thrusters, the first one is an Aton A-3 model at MIREA institute (Moscow) with krypton and the second one is a PPI model at GREMI (Univ. of Orleans) with nitrogen. For nitrogen the performances deduced from an hybrid model are presented (Laplace, Univ. of Toulouse).
