Stereo-tactic puncture drainage versus small bone flap craniotomy for elderly patients with hypertensive thalamic hemorrhage

2018
Objective To explore the curative effects of stereo-tactic puncture drainage and small bone flap craniotomy for elderly patients with hypertensive thalamic hemorrhage. Methods 97 patients with hypertensive thalamic hemorrhage admitted into our hospital from January, 2015 to October, 2017 were divided into a control group (n=51) and an observation group (n=46). The control group were treated with small bone flap craniotomy, and the observation stereo-tactic puncture drainage. The curative effects and follow-up results of the two groups were compared. Results The Glasgow coma score was significantly higher and the operation time and hospitalization time were significantly shorter in the observation group than in the control group[ (10.67±0.84) vs. (10.05±0.91) , P=0.001; (106.1±23.7) min vs. (176.7±18.8) min, P=0.000; and (16.9±2.9) d vs. (23.1±4.4) d, P=0.000]. After 6 months’ follow-up, the ability of daily life was better in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of complications was lower in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions Stereo-tactic puncture drainage elderly patients with hypertensive thalamic hemorrhage can shorten their hospital stay and recovery time and decrease the incidence of complications and shows great meaning for elderly patients who can not tolerate craniotomy.
