The Compact Filtering Dielectric Antenna Based on Dielectric Strip Resonator

A compact filtering dielectric antenna (FDA) based on dielectric strip resonator (DSR) is proposed to achieve filtering response without gain reduction. A compact size is achieved by using a ceramic material with a high dielectric constant operated in the $\text{TM}_{\delta 1}$ cavity mode is analyzed. By utilizing the parallel placed microstrip line to fed the DSR, the filtering response is obtained with no gain reduction. In comparison with the reported design, the proposed one has the advantages of compact size, no gain reduction and wide stopband. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed antenna, one prototype is fabricated that operates at 4.9 GHz, achieved good performance characteristics and verified the rationality of the principle.
