The research progress of heat shock protein in glioma

2017
Glioma is the most common malignant tumor in the nervous system in adults. Searching highly specific therapeutic targets of glioma cells have become a new direction for research in recent years with the evolvement of molecular biological technology. Indeed, heat shock protein family (HSPs) plays an important role in the immunity, proliferation, invasion and metastasis of glioma cells. In recent years, HSP27, HSP70, HSP90 are contained in research hotspots of HSPs and they are strongly associated with the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of glioma proved by numerous studies. All these findings indicate that HSPs is expected to become a new target for glioma treatment in the future. However, with its potential as a therapeutic target for glioma, enhancing targeting of HSPs remains to be a chief problem to be solved. Key words: Glioma; Heat shock protein; Tumor vaccine; Target therapy
