Linking Research and Development (R & D) investment to Organizational Performance in Agricultural Research Institutions: The moderating effect of Innovation

The purpose of this paper is to deliberate whether innovation moderates the relationship among R & D investment and organizational performance. The research was conducted through a web-based survey in agricultural research institutions. A total of 918 answers were received from a sample of 1,200 survey questions. 106 of the returned surveys were eliminated due to insufficient data and the remaining 812 surveys were considered for research findings. Consistent with predictions, the link among R & D investment and organizational performance is significant in the presence of innovation. Innovation can be used as a tool for enlightening the organizational performance of agricultural research institutions through R & D investment. Using the outcomes of this study, practitioners can increase their R & D investment through innovation by taking better account of various characteristics. Previous research has considered the effects of innovation, but not in the capacity of R & D investment. Previous research has also indicated that innovation has positive effects on R & D investment. The current study goes one step extra by investigating the influences of innovation on the relationship of multiple characteristics of R & D investment and organizational performance.
