Carcinoma oral de células escamosas, gravedad del diagnóstico tardío: reporte de caso y revisión de la literatura

2021
The clinical, pathological and immunohistochemical aspects of a OSCC case diagnosed belatedly with a fatal outcome are presented as well as a retrospective-descriptive report. The data of the clinical history, the anatomopathological study and the cell proliferation index are measured by the Ki-67 antibody. The result of this advanced stage cancer case is the death of the patient. We highlight the importance of an oral examination performed by a professional with the capacity to identify injuries early, that may contribute to the decrease of deaths due to OSCC in Mexico. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is mainly caused by excessive consumption of alcohol and tobacco. It mainly affects men over the age of 50.
