Uso da crioterapia como tratamento profilático da mucosite em pacientes submetidos ao transplante de células tronco hematopoiéticas: revisão da literatura

2010
Mucositis induced by high-dose chemotherapy with or without radiotherapy is an expensive doselimiting adverse effect that affects the majority of patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation conditioning. We performed a literature review of cryotherapy combined with standard treatment for prophylaxis of oral mucositis. Were found 16 items related to the object of study. There are no conclusive studies but reports suggest that cryotherapy may be beneficial in some administration conditions, in the treatment of oral mucositis induced by radiation and chemotherapy treatments and the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In these cases the patients showed a significant reduction in the severity of mucositis, pain relief, decreased use of opioid analgesics, improvement of nutritional intake and have a consequent reduction in use of total parenteral nutrition. Keyworks: stomatitis, cryotherapy, bone marrow transplantation. *contact: tms.tiagomsantos@gmail.com
