Leszek Stanislaw Galazka

​FormerFormer general practitioner principal Bedfont, Middlesex (b 1921; q Dublin 1951), d 21 March 2006. Figure 1 Leszek joined the Polish army on the outbreak of the second world war. When Poland fell he made his way to France, where he was wounded and captured. He escaped and worked for the Polish underground, rejoining his regiment in 1944 in England via Odessa. After house jobs in Braintree and London, Leszek spent some years in Hillingdon Hospital's accident and emergency department. In 1959 he took on a singlehanded practice in Bedfont, remaining there until his retirement in 1996 and serving on the local medical committee for many years. He leaves a wife, Nessa; three children; and three grandchildren.
