Influencia del aceite de girasol ozonizado sobre parámetros del perfil lipídico, proteico e indicadores de estrés oxidativo en perros

Oxidative stress is associated with the presence of chronic diseases and triggers dermatological disorders in dogs. Ozonated sunflower oil (AGO, acronym in Spanish) with germicidal, antiinflammatory and stimulator of antioxidant systems actions, demonstrated in different experimental studies. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of the topical administration of different doses of AGO on the lipid profile, protein and oxidative stress indicators for 90 days in dogs. 30 animals were selected and divided into four treatment groups; a vehicle with sunflower oil (AG) and three groups with low, medium and high doses (4, 20 and 100 mg / kg, respectively) of AGO. The treatments were applied for 90 days. Blood samples were taken to obtain plasma, at the beginning and at the end of the study. The variables analyzed were; albumin, cholesterol, triglycerides, malondialdehyde, sulfhydryl groups and catalase). The results show that the applications of AGO did not modify the content of proteins or lipids in the plasma. The lipid peroxidation levels were reduced with the treatment dose of 100 mg / kg of AGO, while the catalase activity was increased after 90 days of treatment for all the doses of AGO evaluated. It is concluded that AGO applied topically for 90 days in dogs did not systemically influence the metabolism of lipids and proteins, but did increase the activity of the antioxidant enzyme catalase
