2020
Objective: Analyze the epidemiological profile of patients hospitalized for HIV in Brazil, in the period from 2010 to 2019. Methods: This is a retrospective, descriptive, quantitative, documentary study. The data were obtained from the Hospital Information System of the Unified Heath System (SIH / SUS), by the SUS IT Department (DATASUS). Results: In the evaluated period, were registered in Brazil 338,966 hospitalizations for HIV. The Southeast (37.6%) and Northeast (25.5%) regions had the highest hospitalizations. However, mortality rates were concentrated in the North (17.06) and South (12.19) regions. The average prevalence of hospitalizations for HIV was higher in the South (26.6 cases) and lower in the Southeast (15.8 cases). There was a predominance of males (63.9%), aged between 30-39 years (31.50%) and white color / race (37.76%). Regarding the regime and character of hospitalizations, 51.35% were in public hospitals and 80.65% was due to urgency. There was a total of 41,101 deaths (12.12%). The highest prevalence occurred among male patients (51.48%) and the highest mortality rate occurred in the age group above 70 years (21.82%). Conclusion: HIV infection and, consequently, hospitalizations as a result of this factor, still provide high costs for public health in the country.
